Ring and Ride West Midlands

Ring and Ride was established in 1983 and is a grant funded charity (no. 700370-1) providing a door-to-door service for anyone who has any form of disability or mobility problem.

It operates as a separate charity within ATG and has it's own board of trustees who are ultimately responsible for the overall conduct of Ring and Ride West Midlands.

The Ring and Ride fleet consists of 120 fully accessible 11 seater minibuses that are converted to provide our customers with a safe and comfortable experience at all times. They are operated from six depots across the West Midlands.

The service has grown increasingly over the years; we now have over 72,000 registered users that benefit from the service whether it is for doing their daily shopping or going to the doctors. Each customer has to be registered to use the service; it is free to register which can be done over the phone, by post or online.

Ring and Ride covers a wide area which consists of eight districts that include; East, North and South Birmingham, Coventry, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley and Wolverhampton.

The service operates Monday – Saturday between 8:30am and 10:30pm and on a Sunday between 8:30am and 3:30pm, fares are £1 each way before 7pm and £2 after 7pm and on a Sunday.

We have two dedicated Customer Service Centres that handle all of the day to day bookings with our customers. Lines are open Monday to Saturday from 9:30am to 2:30pm and during this time our dedicated teams take up to 8,000 calls a week. Customers that have access to the internet can also book via our website or by email.

We also offer a pre-scheduled booking service which provides our customers that travel to a certain place every week a guaranteed seat on that specific trip, which means they do not need to call in to book for the trip they only need to let us know if they are not travelling.

Ring and Ride has been operating for 33 years and is recognised as a successful and reliable service providing vulnerable customers the means of keeping their independence and reducing isolation within the community. It has also allowed many of our customers to gain new friendships through the service.

Joint initiatives

Our in-house Marketing and Promotions Department work closely with local attractions such as independent cinemas, theatres and garden centres to offer passengers discounts on admission and tickets.

We actively market special day trips and events to our passengers by both direct mail and online marketing campaigns.
